Description
The solid-wood bottom board is an important base platform as it provides the entrance for the bees and also allows them enough space to work. The size can be adjusted to help the bees during different weather conditions. Solid wood bottom boards are perfect for cooler climates because they’re similar to natural hive enclosures, which makes them feel comfortable and right at home.
Our boards are made with ¾” (1.91 cm) plywood that is stapled and glued together, giving beekeepers quality service for many years to come. Untreated and reversible, all bottom boards come with an entrance reducer included.
If you live in a hot and humid climate, we recommend using a screened bottom board for your beekeeping during the warmer months. Solid wood will limit ventilation to the hive in humid climates, but the screen allows for better airflow and helps regulate the temperature inside the hive without expending too much of their energy. By using a screened bottom board, you can help keep the hive comfortable for the queen without using up too many resources.

I love my new bottom board. With an interesting integral plastic bottom board, I could not attach the guardian product to my colony, but the new wooden one sat right on top and fit great! Now I have the guardian installed and I hope the girls can be free of those pests!
